Betty ValentineBetty Valentine, Director

Betty Valentine was first appointed to the Waypoint Board at its inception in 2008. She served as Chair of the Resource Committee, Vice-Chair, and was appointed Chair in 2013. In 2017 she took hiatus from the Board but continued to represent the hospital at the Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario meetings. She was re-appointed to the Board in June 2018 and returned as Chair in June 2020. In June 2022, Betty left her executive position but remains on the Board as a director. 

Betty was born and raised in Penetanguishene and enjoyed a 31-year career in Municipal Finance with the Town of Penetanguishene, most recently as Treasurer before retiring in 2004.  

Betty has long had an interest in volunteer service, having been a member of many local boards including the North Simcoe Catholic Family Life Centre, Hospice Huronia and Huronia District Hospital Board among others. 

She has a keen interest in board governance and Catholic health care and has taken many continuing education courses in that regard. Besides her involvement at Waypoint, Betty is an active volunteer with St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, the Penetanguishene Public Library and the Midland and Area Terry Fox Run. In 2012, she was honoured to receive one of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals in recognition of more than 40 years of volunteer service in our area.
