Fred Flood was appointed to the Waypoint Board of Directors in 2008. He also serves on the Finance, Property and Resource Committees.
Born in the Netherlands but moving to Canada at an early age, Fred graduated from the University of Waterloo in Honours Kinesiology. Taking the cooperative education course, his work terms included placements at the Huronia Regional Hospital for the mentally challenged in Orillia. Following graduation, he then began his career in municipal work as Athletics Director in the Kitchener Parks and Recreation Department. Fred subsequently moved into more municipal administration completing further education and certification in municipal law, community economic development, human resources, and management training through the Canadian branch of the American Management Association. Moving to Midland as Deputy Clerk, he soon became the Municipal Clerk and was subsequently appointed the Town’s first Chief Administrative Officer, a post he held for 17 years leading to his retirement. Fred was recognized for his achievements being given Midland’s Award of Merit for his “many years of dedication and providing distinguished direction and leadership to Council and staff”. Fred has also served as a Board member of the newly established Midland Public Utilities Corporation and on the All Saints Anglican Church Advisory Board, including chairing the restoration committee. While retired, he continues to do some part-time consulting work.
