Eric Preston
Eric Preston, Director
Eric was appointed to the Waypoint Board in June 2017. He has had an extensive career in the broader public sector and brings a breadth of knowledge in human resources, labour relations, financial management, IT, facilities and other corporate service functions to his role on the Waypoint Board.
Eric was an executive with Ontario Hydro, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Since 2013, Eric has been a Principal with the consulting firm, The Osborne Group. His practice includes human resources, strategic planning, board governance and interim management in the not-for-profit sector. His clients have included family health teams, the Ontario Centre of Excellence for Child and Youth Mental Health, and the Family Association for Mental Health Everywhere (FAME)
Eric’s academic background includes an undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario, an MBA from York University (Schulich School of Business) and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Queen’s University (School of Public Administration). Eric has also completed the Governance Essentials for Directors of Not-For-Profit Organizations program with the Institute of Corporate Directors and Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. Eric is a Certified Human Resources Executive (Human Resources Professionals Association), a Member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a Member and Vice Chair of the Board of Workplace Safety & Prevention Services and Chair of the Human Resources Committee.
Eric resides in Thornhill and has been cottaging in Port McNicoll and Honey Harbour for the past 30 years. In addition to his consulting and Board work, Eric is a volunteer with the Anglican Diocese of Toronto Supporting Congregations Volunteer Corps. In that role, he acts as a coach to parishes developing congregational growth grant proposals and helps facilitate the recruitment process for parishes selecting a new priest.
