Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care believes safety is of utmost importance. We value our role in the community and understand our responsibilities as a public hospital to be transparent and accountable to our patients, their families, staff, stakeholders and the communities we serve. Waypoint supports the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care's commitment to provide regular reports to the public.
Waypoint Quality Improvement Plan
Quality improvement is an ongoing priority that helps us continually find new and better ways of doing things so that we can enhance care for patients, increase satisfaction and achieve even better clinical outcomes.
Our Quality Improvement Plan, or QIP, is a requirement of the Excellent Care for All Act. It is one tool that we are using to help us document and review our current performance in a variety of areas. With this plan, we will be able to clearly see our targeted areas for improvement and chart our progress.
The Excellent Care for All Act was passed by the Ontario Government in June 2010 and is legislation that will help support hospitals to further improve the quality and safety of care we provide.
Quality Improvement Plans provide a meaningful way for Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care to clearly articulate our accountability to our community, patients and staff. Our QIP is focused on creating a positive patient experience and delivering high quality health care and is only one of the ways we are working to improve our patients' experiences.

All hospitals must report to the Ontario Health Quality Council on a series of core indicators to support province-wide comparisons. The core indicators that apply to our hospital are reflected in our QIP.
Mental Health Hospitals Unveil Performance Measures to Increase Transparency and Accountability
As part of our commitment to enhance accountability and transparency to our communities, Waypoint has come together with the mental health care hospitals in Ontario and launched the Mental Health and Addictions Quality Initiative. Through this initiative, hospitals developed standardized performance indicators to measure key areas including client complexity, client outcomes, client access, staff safety, human resources, fiscal responsibility and client safety.

Des hôpitaux de santé mentale dévoilent des mesures de rendement pour accroître la transparence et la responsabilisation
Dans le cadre de notre engagement à améliorer la responsabilisation et la transparence pour nos communautés, Waypoint s’est joint aux hôpitaux de santé mentale de l’Ontario pour lancer l’Initiative de qualité en santé mentale et en toxicomanie. Grâce `a cette initiative, les hôpitaux ont établi des indicateurs de rendement normalisés pour mesurer des domaines clés, notamment la complexité des cas, les résultats pour les clients, l’accès des clients, la sécurité du personnel, les ressources humaines, las responsabilité financière et la sécurité des clients.

Broader Public Sector Accountabiilty Act
In 2010, the Government passed the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act which requires hospitals to publicly post any expense claims made by hospital executives and Board Members, effective Nov. 30, 2011.
Our hopsital has absolutely embraced this requirement. We believe that it is a reasonable way to promote public confidence in our management of taxpayer money, and it is consitent with the policies that already apply to senior leaders in government and other broader sector organizations.

Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care values transparency and accountability. To continue our commitment to these values, we and many of our hospital partners across Ontario have proactively disclosed the contracts of our executive team.
