For the Media

Waypoint values the role of the media and is committed to providing information on all aspects of mental illness to the public.

We have a variety of experts available to be interviewed on treatment, research and education issues concerning mental health and addiction. The Communications office co-ordinates all inquiries from journalists, and will connect you with the most appropriate spokesperson.

The privacy rights of our patients are paramount. We strive to be as open and accessible as possible, but strict processes are in place for news gathering on Waypoint property. Please contact Communications so we can work with you to facilitate on-site interview requests.

Photography, videography and the use of drones on site require advance consent. While here, media must be escorted by a Communications staff person or designate.

No patients can be photographed or filmed until they have completed Waypoint’s consent form. This will be facilitated by Waypoint and will ensure the patient is fully aware of the consent information and the intended use of the material gathered.

If you do not have prior approval, or if your actions interfere with care or services being provided, you will be asked to stop taking a photo, video or audio recording, and to delete any recordings made.

Before interviewing any Waypoint staff or visiting the hospital, you must contact the Waypoint Communications office at 705-549-3181, ext. 2073, or [email protected].
