forward momentum you choose this Mental Health Week could help support those struggling with mental health and addiction problems through Get Your Mental Health in Motion.

One of Waypoint’s signature events, the May 2-7 fundraiser features wellness, mindfulness, music and physical activities the whole family can enjoy – all for free; ending the week with an exciting Choose Your Own Adventure virtual 5k fundraiser - walk, run, kayak, bike, paddleboard - the possibilities are endless.

“Movement is so simple, yet vital for our life,” says Liz Everett, Recreation Therapist and Employee Wellness Coordinator. “Our bodies are designed to move in all different ways & when done daily, and with elements of fun, plays a huge role in keeping your body and mind strong and healthy!"

With a goal of $25,000, all funds raised at this year’s Get Your Mental Health in Motion will support the resurfacing of the outdoor sports area so the space can be used for multiple sports including tennis, pickleball, basketball, and shuffle board – giving patients an inclusive, outdoor experience to enjoy.

“Patients from all walks of life and areas throughout Simcoe/Muskoka come to Waypoint to get help,” said Carol Lambie, Waypoint President and CEO. “The funds raised at this year’s event will help give them the opportunity to build skills, boost energy levels, enhance quality of life and quality sleep, and strengthen social connections through physical activity.”

The week’s activities are free for anyone to join, and the hospital is asking for just a minimum donation/pledge of $25/person and $75/family for the Choose Your Own Adventure virtual 5k.

You can support the event by making a personal donation, asking your friends and neighbours to participate or pledge you, becoming a sponsor, or supporting the amazing sponsors we already have on board. Every dollar brings us closer to offering more activities for patients to help them on their mental health journey.
