We’ve all been affected by cancer in some way. Recent studies estimate that fifty percent of us will be told we have cancer in our lifetime. We cannot allow this to happen to our families, friends, neighbours, or ourselves. Research is critical to discovering how to best prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. Fundraising is essential to enabling this research. In this program, we will learn more about emerging medical advances in outrunning cancer, the rewards of being a fundraising volunteer, and what it is like to live with cancer.
On Thursday, September 9 at 7:30 PM, in partnership with the Heart of Georgian Bay Terry Fox Run Committee, Our Health will present a discussion on the advances and support of cancer care. Outrunning Cancer II is a follow up to the very successful event that we hosted in September 2019.
Dr. Christiaan Stevens, the Medical Director for Cancer Services in our area, will be reviewing the latest therapies for cancer. Don Chapman, whose son died from cancer 16 years ago, will share the many rewards from his volunteer cancer activities. Fred Flood, a local resident, will tell us about his ongoing experiences with cancer. We invite you to listen to their comments and be part of the discussion of cancer care now and in the future.
Just a few days later, on Sunday September 19, all of us can support ongoing and future cancer research by participating in our Virtual Terry Fox Run, Terry Fox Run September 19, 2021
