A Panel Discussion on Online Safety & Wellness
The Town of Wasaga Beach is hosting an unprecedented panel discussion about online exploitation prevention and youth mental health and wellness at the Wasaga Beach RecPlex (1724 Mosley St.) on Wednesday March 22nd, 2023 from 7-9 p.m.
The keynote speaker is Carol Todd, the mother of Amanda Todd, who in 2012 at the tender age of 15 made international news after her posted video exposing her sexploitation experience went viral. The video is a heart breaking and raw reflection of the devastating impact of online exploitation and bullying. Sadly, a very short time after, Amanda Todd took her life. Carol has focused the past 10 years in keeping Amanda’s legacy alive by becoming one of the most sought after, international speakers about online safety and exploitation awareness.
Joining Carol on the discussion panel is Dr. Meeder, Medical Director of Waypoint's Family, Child and Youth Mental Health Program, PC Christine Dineen from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the moderator for the discussion will be the Director of New Path – Youth and Family Services, Brandie Sanders.
The evening will be a frank discussion around online bullying and sexploitation prevention as well as youth mental health awareness and wellness. Attendees, can expect to discover the current digital exposures that our youth are facing and will be empowered with resources and action steps to help keep our kids safe online.
This event is geared towards parents and caregivers 18 years of age plus.
