Are there differences between the way men and women experience illness and respond to treatment during their lifetimes? Women have a higher incidence of chronic illness, but men die younger. Is this because of our biology (sex) or our cultural and social roles (gender)? For transgender and gender-fluid individuals, it can be even more complicated.
As men and women, we tend to make assumptions about what the other sex experiences in terms of health and well-being. Join us to learn about how research is challenging these assumptions and busting myths.
In this “Our Health” event, the panel of experts will explore how vascular disease (heart and stroke), bone health and the stresses of caregiving impact men and women differently with regards to research, detection, diagnosis, treatment and health outcomes.
The Difference Sex and Gender Make to Our Health will be held in-person at the Midland Cultural Centre with Free registration and will also be broadcast on Rogers TV throughout Simcoe County. The program will also be streamed free of charge, live and into the future at Online. If you want to watch past Our Health programs, here's the link to the videos MCC Our Health.
