John McCullough was re-appointed to the Board in June 2019 after having first served on the inaugural Board from 2008 to 2016. John served as Vice-Chair in 2009 and as Chair from 2010 to 2013, guiding the Board through a massive redevelopment program to replace Oak Ridge following the hospital’s divestment.

John will join the Governance and Property Committees. His previous Board experience includes past Chair of the Georgian College Board of Governors, Chair of the Ministry of Health’s Mental Health Implementation Task Force, Chair of the Public Education and Communications Committee Provincial Task Force and Wendat Community Psychiatric Programs. He was also the founding Chair of the Simcoe County Board of Education. 

John has recently retired as Vice Chair of the Ontario Parole Board, a position he has held since 2003. He is a graduate of the Radio and Television Arts Program at Ryerson University and his past employment includes senior manager with CHUM television at its Barrie station and Executive Director with the United Way. 

John brings a wealth of experience, having served on a number of local, regional and provincial organizations and committees. He was a member of the “Power of Education” fundraising group and the Governors’ Circle at Georgian College, is a Life Member of the Advisory Council, Salvation Army, Barrie, and a member of the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators.
