Dr. Howard Barbaree
Dr. Howard Barbaree, Vice-Chair
Dr. Howard Barbaree was appointed to the Waypoint Board in June 2019, bringing extensive experience in research, quality and mental health in both an academic and clinical setting. He was appointed Vice-Chair in June 2020.
Dr. Barbaree was most recently employed as Senior Research Advisor at Waypoint and prior to that was Vice-President of Research and Academics from 2010 to 2016. He was previously employed as the Head of the Law and Mental Health Program in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, and Clinical Director of the Law and Mental Health Program at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. He also taught in the Department of Psychology at Queen’s University, and was promoted to the rank of Full Professor in 1990.
He has devoted much of his professional career to research, teaching and clinical practice related to sexual aggression and sexual deviance, and has published 5 books and more than 100 journal articles and book chapters on the topic.
