(The Hub) is planning a week full of activities as they get set to kick off the fall and open their ‘virtual’ doors on September 15, 2020.

Located inside the new Community Health Hub on Bayshore Drive in downtown Midland, The Hub is designed to provide needed services and at this time a virtual safe space for youth ages 12 to 25 in need of mental health and addiction services, brief therapy, primary care, and social supports for employment, housing, and income.

“While planning for the Community Health Hub, we knew there was a gap in youth services in our area,” says Rob Desroches, Waypoint Vice-President Clinical Services. “When the opportunity arose to partner with other local organizations to provide a one-stop-shop for youth with low or no barriers to accessing services, we knew it was an opportunity for us to step in.”

The commitment of youth and family engagement and their involvement in key decisions is integral to the Youth Wellness Hubs model.

“The NSYWH is dedicated to engaging with youth and families to help us create a Hub that actually meets the needs of youth in our community” says Kelly McLaughlin, Youth, Family and Community Engagement Lead at The Hub. “We are working hard to transform ‘the system’ for youth and families in our community. The Hub is a collaborative partnership of dedicated service providers, working hard to reduce barriers, and provide clear pathways for youth to access services at the right time with the right person.”

The Hub’s official fall launch kicks off on September 15 with virtual activities starting at 2 p.m. on the North Simcoe Youth Wellness Hub Facebook page. There will be a welcome message from Waypoint, Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario, Community Service Partners as well as youth testimonials, followed by some launch activities and Round Dancers. Anyone interested in participating can visit The Hub’s Facebook and Instagram pages or visit www.waypointcentre.ca for access info.
