John O’Connell is a senior finance and operations executive with more than 25 years of experience helping complex health-care, public-sector and global organizations strengthen financial performance, modernize corporate services and deliver sustainable change.
As Vice President, Corporate Services & Chief Financial Officer, John provides strategic leadership for Waypoint’s financial stewardship, capital infrastructure, analytics, information technology and corporate services priorities, working in partnership with clinical and administrative leaders to support high-quality care and long-term organizational sustainability.
Prior to joining Waypoint, John was a Director in the Financial Accounting & Advisory Services practice of Ernst & Young, having previously held senior roles at Sinai Health, HBC, IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Dresdner Bank AG. Throughout his career, John has been recognized for translating strategy into practical action, building collaborative partnerships and developing high-performing teams that deliver stronger insight, service and value.
John holds a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, and an Honours Business Administration degree from the Ivey Business School at Western University. He speaks English, French and German.
