Maham TariqMaham Tariq, MPH 
Research Coordinator

Maham joined Waypoint in 2023 as a Research Coordinator. Maham holds a Master's in Public Health from New York University where she majored in Community Health Sciences & Practices with a focus on Human Rights and Program Planning. 

While completing her graduate degree Maham was involved in several qualitative research groups that explored a variety of topics including differences in health behaviors among South Asian Americans, health disparities among newcomer and refugee populations in Canada, stigma and drug use behaviors in vulnerable populations. Maham also co-founded The Public Health Youth Association of Canada which was a funded non-profit aiming to equip youth with the necessary skills, knowledge and tools for a career in public health. Through this role she mentored over 10 students and led 2 working groups across Canada in policy writing, advocacy and education initiatives. During the peak of the pandemic Maham served as a frontline worker and was a supervisor at multiple Region of Peel vaccine clinics serving disadvantaged communities. 

Currently, Maham is working as a Research Coordinator supporting the Preventative Online Mental Health Program for Youth project led by Dr. Elnaz Moghimi and Dr. Soyeon Kim. 

Maham's dedication to her work draws from her personal commitment to helping others. Outside of work Maham loves to bake new recipes, paint and spend time with her niece.
