Research Interests
Emilie Ades joined the Waypoint Research Institute in 2025. She holds an HBSc in Forensic Anthropology with a minor in Psychology from University of Toronto-Mississauga and recently completed her MSc in Forensic Psychology and Mental Health at Queen Mary University of London. She has previously worked as a Research Assistant on projects related to the use of the PCL-R in the Canadian legal system. As part of her MSc, she worked as an honorary assistant psychologist at the Stalking Threat Assessment Centre (NHS) in London, UK.
Her academic work has focused on the intersections of psychology, law, violence and gender. Her undergraduate thesis explored perceptions of coercive control and its implications for violence risk communication, while her master’s thesis investigated the differences in social media usage between violent and non-violent male supremacists/incels.
At Waypoint, she supports Dr. Soyeon Kim in projects related to youth emotional literacy and effects of screen time. She brings experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and is passionate about making psychological research accessible.
