The STREAM Lab, is dedicated to providing timely and comprehensive evidence reviews to support provincial partners in improving mental health and addictions care across Ontario. Our products focus on evidence related to health systems rather than clinical care, delivering actionable insights that can inform planning and decision-making processes. We aim to support the delivery of effective, efficient, equitable, and responsive mental health and addictions services.

Our team develops “rapid evidence synthesis products” within 3 days to 8 weeks. Depending on the timeline, products may range from ultra rapid products (e.g., data tables, brief summaries) to comprehensive reports featuring detailed literature reviews and appendices. Our products may include evidence from: 

  • Rapid reviews of the academic literature: we synthesize the latest research to provide a robust overview of the evidence base
  • Jurisdictional scans: we examine regional, national, and international practices and policies to highlight current and innovative approaches
  • Grey literature searches: we review non-academic literature, such as organizational reports and evaluations, to uncover practical insights and real-world applications
  • Key informant interviews: we engage experts in the field to gather nuanced perspectives and contextual information

Future products may include infographics and discussion events.

Products and product topics can only be shared publicly with the approval of our partners. When allowed, we share our products under a Creative Commons license.
