Waypoint, a Catholic sponsored organization, is an internationally recognized academic and research health centre that provides specialized mental health and addictions and geriatric care across Ontario and beyond.
As a board member your experience as part of a public sector, not for profit or corporate Board, or as a senior executive, will complement our team of skilled professionals. You will work together with the CEO and board on strategic decision making and oversight, monitoring performance, quality and risk management and ensuring sustainable operations, as well as focusing on reducing stigma and improving services through fundraising activities. The role of the board is to govern and oversee the affairs of the hospital in keeping with its Mission, Vision and Values of Caring, Respect, Innovation and Accountability.
We are currently recruiting for experienced governors who have knowledge of the healthcare system specifically as it relates to Artificial Intelligence (AI);innovation; and government relations and public affairs. As a specialized, research-intensive teaching centre, Waypoint is a locus of complex mental health, addictions and geriatric care, a training ground for tomorrow’s health care professionals, and a crucible for research and discovery. We partner purposefully and integrate patient perspectives to co-design solutions and share knowledge to change lives. We have a unique role as the sole provider of high secure mental health care services in the province and we leverage our expertise in this field to inform other aspects of mental health care. Our more than 1,300 staff provide care for a spectrum of patients from children to seniors, in patient, outpatient and community and home settings.
