This free community event invites visitors to explore some of Ontario’s most unique and historically significant sites — and we’re excited to welcome you through our doors.
Once a year, Doors Open offers a behind-the-scenes look at places across the region that you may not otherwise have the opportunity to visit. At Waypoint, visitors can explore our history, learn more about the work happening today and connect with the people and programs that support mental health care across the region.

Admission is free and no appointment is required.
All visitors should enter through the Atrium Front Entrance, where greeters will welcome you and provide information about the day’s activities.
What to Expect
Explore Waypoint’s History
Visit our Auditorium to explore a curated display of historic photographs, documents and maps, with staff and volunteers available to share more about Waypoint’s history.
Visitors can also join a guided tour highlighting the history and architecture of the Administration Building and Cupola.
Tour Our rTMS Suite
For the first time at Doors Open, visitors can take a guided look inside Waypoint’s rTMS rTMS uses magnetic pulses to target areas of the brain associated with mood. It is one of the treatment options helping expand how we approach mental health care. suite and learn more about this non-invasive treatment.
Our rTMS team will be available to answer questions and share more about the treatment and what patients can expect.

Meet staff from Waypoint’s outpatient programs and community partners, learn more about the services available in our region and discover the work happening beyond the hospital walls.
Guided Tours
Two types of complementary tours will be available throughout the day:
15-Minute Guided Tours
These tours will highlight the history and architecture of the Administration Building and Cupola, followed by a visit to the rTMS suite.
45-Minute History Tours
For those who want to explore more of Waypoint’s history, longer guided tours will depart from the Auditorium at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Visitors are welcome to independently visit the hospital cemetery during the event.
