Did you know that mental illness indirectly affects all Canadians at some time either through their own experience, or that of a family member, friend, neighbor or colleague?
In any given year, 1 in 5 people will personally experience a mental health problem or illness, and that by age 40, about 50% of the population will have or have had a mental illness. Young people aged 15 to 24 are more likely to experience mental illness and/or substance use disorders than any other age group.
Despite so many of us being affected, there are still misunderstandings and stigma surrounding mental health.
