Avery Bassett

Avery grew up in Toronto and joined the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in 1995. She was first posted to Midland Detachment and during her 30-year policing career, she served in a range of operational and specialized roles, including general patrol duties, the Intelligence Bureau, Crime Prevention and Community Safety Services, and the Security Bureau. She was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2014.

A committed public servant, Avery has long been an advocate for youth and seniors. Following her retirement in 2025, she continues to serve her community through volunteer leadership with Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, Life4Kids Canada, and Simcoe Dufferin Muskoka Crime Stoppers. She remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that strengthen community well-being and enhance the lives of vulnerable populations.
