Research Interests
Zoe Findlay joined Waypoint in 2024 and currently works as the Integrated Care Lead for the Health Systems Integration team. In this role, she leads, facilitates and contributes to projects that aim to improve the mental health and substance use health (MHSUH) system across Waypoint’s catchment area and the Ontario Health Central region at large. This role provides a unique and exciting opportunity for Zoe to integrate her 5 years of psychiatric nursing experience (largely in the psychiatric emergency department at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)) with her applied research and systems thinking skills gained through graduate school.
Improving the patient and provider experience of our MHSUH system has been a passion of Zoe’s ever since she began her nursing career. This led her to complete a Master of Health Science in Translational Research at the University of Toronto (U of T), where she received training in complex problem solving, human centered design, research methods and systems thinking. Since graduating in 2021, Zoe has worked on various research projects at CAMH, The Dalla Lana School of Public Health at U of T and as an independent researcher at Waypoint. Although her work experience has been diverse, the consistent thread has been a desire to meld her frontline experience with big picture thinking. Zoe is driven to understand how we can employ evidence and data to action sustainable, tangible and meaningful change to those that experience, use and deliver MHSUH care.
In July 2025, Zoe was the successful candidate for the Waypoint Research Scholarship which supports her to lead a research project one day per week. Through this opportunity, Zoe led a robust evaluation of the province’s first At Home program tailored for people with MHSUH concerns, in collaboration with Dr. Soyeon Kim and Stephanie Junes. In addition to this evaluation, Zoe is planning a small, quality improvement, embedded research initiative within Outpatient Services.
