Dr. N. Zoe Hilton is the Research Chair in Forensic Mental Health at Waypoint, Professor of Psychiatry in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, and Professor in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. She is also a fellow of the Canadian Psychological Association.
Since joining Waypoint 35 years ago, she has been both a front-line clinician and a full-time researcher. Dr. N. Zoe Hilton conducts research that pertains to justice-involved individuals in the criminal justice and psychiatric systems, and the professionals who provide services for them. She has conducted influential research in the areas of intimate partner violence risk assessment, violence risk communication, and trauma among psychiatric workers. Dr. Hilton was the lead on the research team that developed the Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessment (ODARA), a brief actuarial tool created to aid decision making by police and other first responders to intimate partner violence (IPV), and currently leads the SSHRC-funded CELIA IPV project that is developing standard risk levels and extending IPV risk assessment to new populations, risk factors, and outcomes. Dr. Hilton earned degrees from the University of Southampton, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Toronto.

Student / Volunteer Opportunities
Dr. Hilton welcomes research interns, graduate students, and co-op placement students. She can supervise thesis work for graduate students in research or clinical programs and serve as an external examiner.
